Jim grew up in Cleveland. His wife grew up in East Liverpool. When it came time to put down roots, Boardman was the natural choice, halfway between their two hometowns, and at the center of a region Jim had come to know and care about deeply.
Before founding Pirum, Jim served in the United States Air Force. He then spent over 25 years delivering enterprise-level IT to banks, manufacturers, and large organizations across multiple industries. He holds an MBA in Finance and Information Technology: a combination that means he understands both the technology and the business decisions it supports.
What he noticed after years of big-business consulting was a gap: the small businesses of Northeast Ohio had the same IT needs as his enterprise clients, but none of the access to qualified expertise. He founded Pirum Consulting to close that gap.
The name Pirum is a natural extension of Jim's own identity. HruΕ‘ka is the Czech word for pear, and Pirum is the Latin. Same meaning, deeper roots. It's a symbol of longevity and prosperity across cultures for centuries, and it reflects the kind of IT partnership Jim set out to build: one that grows stronger over time and is genuinely invested in your long-term success.
Boardman sits at the center of one of the most connected corridors in the eastern U.S. From here, we support businesses across a wide regional footprint, and our remote capabilities extend that reach nationwide.
Jim's commitment to the Mahoning Valley goes well beyond his clients. He is invested in the fabric of this community through organizations that share his values of service, integrity, and giving back.
